What is the event?

The Sheep's Head Challenge is a 10 mile route that is primarily off-road and follow's along the Glanlough Loop on the Sheep's Head Way.

It is for both walkers (9.30am) and runners (11.30am) and the course is marked, with two water stations. A medical team will be present for the duration of the event.

What is the entry cost?

The entry fee is:

  • €25

  • U18s €10

All monies raised will go to the Muintir Bhaire Sea Scouts and Muintir Bhaire Foroige Group.

How do I register?

Registering online can be done so HERE. On the day registration closes 15 minutes before both the walk and run.

Both online registered entrants and those paying on the day will collect their race number at the Ahakista Bar on the morning.

Is the event timed?

Manual timing will be in operation. Times will be posted on the Facebook page and website shortly after the event.

Is the course clearly marked?

It sure is. There are kilometre markings throughout the course, pink flags dotted along the route, directional signs where necessary and we also have some very helpful stewards.

Are there water stations on the route?

Yes, there will be two water stations along the course. There will be refreshments and food provided at the finish.

Where is the car park?

Parking for the event is 100m beyond the bar and stewards will direct you where to put your car.

What do I get for my entry fee?

All the proceeds of the race goes to the local Sea Scouts and Foroige club. For that reason, you won't be receiving t-shirts, medals or bags full of stuff that you never use in this event.

What you will get is a challenge, incredible views, light refreshments and encouragement along the way from helpful stewards.

Are there camping/changing facilities?

There are camping spaces available - contact Declan on 086-168140 to confirm.

Unfortunately there are no shower facilities, but a quick dip in the water - a 100m walk from the bar - has been popular for previous entrants.
