The Mission
The Sheep’s Head Challenge is a trek through the heart of West Cork on the Sheep's Head Pensiula. If chip-timing, a flat course and a finishing medal is your thing, this is not for you! What it is however is a community based race, where people of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to take in the fantastic views the area has to offer.

First held in 2015, a “short break” turned into a few years before it was revived again in 2018. To date, 340 walkers and runners have tackled the course and more than €4000 has been raised (€4,190, but who’s counting?) for different charities.

If there are blood, sweat and tears along the way, we have that covered. A medical team are at hand for any loss of blood, water stations will be along the route and at the finish line to cater for the thirst and our army of volunteers will provide all the support you need!
The Challenge
The Sheep's Head Challenge is a 10 mile, mainly off road route that begins and finishes at the Tin Pub in Ahakista, following the Glenlough Loop on the Sheep's Head Way, with walkers starting at 9.30am, followed by the runners at 11.30am.
Helping the Community
This year all proceeds from the event will go to Muintir Bhaire Sea Scouts and Muintir Bhaire Foroige group.
AFTer the Race
After the race there will be refreshments at the Tin Pub. Later in the evening there will be music in the bar for anyone who wants to make a weekend of the race.
